The Friends of Contemporary Art (FOCA) is an informal group of people interested in learning about art trends, artists and collecting.

The Friends of Contemporary Art (FOCA) is an informal group of people interested in learning about art trends, artists and collecting.  FOCA schedules 4 programs each season between November through March. Programs include lectures, artist studio visits, art exhibits, panel discussions and private collection tours. Programs are for members only.

MEMBERSHIP:

Membership is limited to 70 people. Dues are $25 per calendar year. Dues cover a modest honorarium and travel expenses for presenters.

We are also accepting new members until we have 70 members or until October 31, whichever is first.      Lecture by Caitlin Swindell, VBMA Chief Curator, to be held at the Majestic Theatre, Vero Beach, Fl.
December 6- 31, 2024. VIVA FOCA! Exhibition
     Exhibition of FOCA Artists! Friends of Contemporary Art, at The Center for Spiritual Care, 1550 24th St., Vero Beach. Entries due by November 1st.  DETAILS BELOW


January 9, 2025: Abstract: Urge: Artists Exhibition and Tour at Raw Space, downtown Vero Beach. Exhibit is open November 1 thru January 30. Special lecture event for FOCA members, details to follow.
February (date and details TBD) to visit a Collector’s Home
March 26th: Open Studio: FOCA visits the studio of artist Susan Hale
January – April 2025: Tours can be arranged independently by groups of members to Windsor Art Gallery and/ or Norton Museum, Palm Beach.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS TO Viva FOCA! Juried Small Works Exhibition
FOCA Members at the Center for Spiritual Care
SUBMISSION DEADLINE:  Friday, November 1, 2024 Submission must be made digitally
in a JPEG file to the Center for Spiritual Care (centerspiritualcare.org)
ELIGIBILITY:  You must be a dues-paid FOCA member.
SUBMISSION REQUIREMENTS:
     Limit: ONE submission per member.
     Maximum size: 14” x 14” (excluding frame)
     2-D and 3-D works in any media are eligible
     Submission must be made digitally in a JPEG file to the Center for Spiritual Care (centerspiritualcare.org)
ARTIST STATEMENT: 
Each submission must be accompanied by an artist’s statement:
            In 50 words or less, describe your creative process, what inspired this artwork, or why you believe that art matters.
     ENTRY FEE:
 $10 entry fee to cover refreshments and administrative costs
SELECTION PROCESS
Up to 30 works will be featured in the exhibition 
Each submission will be reviewed by a panel of jurors and accepted on the basis of its evaluations
NOTIFICATION OF ACCEPTANCE:
Notification-of-acceptance emails will be sent on Monday, Nov. 11.  Please add centerspiritualcare@gmail.com to your safe senders or check your spam folder that day.
The Center for Spiritual Care is absorbing considerable overhead on our behalf. Please consider donating 25% of sales to the Center.

Monday, Nov. 4: Jurors determine works included
Monday, Nov.11:  Artists notified of acceptance
Monday, Dec. 2:    Artists deliver accepted work to Center,1550 24th St., Vero Beach, between hours of 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
 All 2D work must be wired and ready to hang, 3D work must have its own stand/pedestal.
Friday, Dec. 6: Opening of Viva FOCA 3!  5-7p.m.
Monday, Dec 30: Show closes at 5 pm
Tuesday, Dec. 31:  Pick up your work between 10 am-12 pm
